Bavaria, Germany

The Free State of Bavaria in the south of Germany has only been a part of the country since 1871, and Bavarians have strong and unique traditions, including traditional clothes and folk music.

The Bavarian Alps are a big mountain range containing the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain. Bavaria's most famous annual event is the "Oktoberfest", a beer festival taking place in Munich every September.

The city of Aschaffenburg is known as the gateway to the Spessart mountain range. Its sights include the Schloss Johannisburg [Johannisburg castle] and a cathedral founded in 947 AD.


Garmisch-Partenkirchen

The market and farming town of Erding is home to the famous Erdinger beer. It is situated 14.0km [8.7 miles] south-west of Munich airport.
